FI Newsletter #7: A product roadmap worth spreading

A product roadmap worth spreading

Whilst I do think that FFLOK will be an idea worth spreading, the type of TED that I actually needed this week was my old product manager Ted Bardasz. After my Founders Institute work this week I now have a much greater appreciation of his day to day existence (“finally”, I hear him groan as his forehead bangs against his desk in Boston).

This is how it works… (1) whip out your colouring pens to sketching a product vision, (2) distill that vision into a series of features which you then need to group. You should also prioritise the features within each group to give you your product roadmap. (3) You then take all your top priority features and craft a development plan which will have a series of (roughly) 2 month iterations in it (iteration 1 for top priority features, iteration 2 for priority #2 features and so on). (4) Inside each iteration you need to outline a series of two week sprints that will give you the detail on how your rock star developers deliver those features. (5) Obviously you have a set of KPIs for each sprint to ensure you’re developing everything on time such as the number of features released or the number of bugs identified and fixed.

The Advisors

In other news, I am super excited to reveal four new advisors for FFLOK… Eyal Lavin, Mary Wallace, Mark Goodyear and Erfane Arwani. I have to say that I feel both humbled that they’ve agreed to go on this adventure with me, but also very fortunate that I live in the town which has the world’s finest vineyards… I’m sure this has had something to do with their decision to help!

It’s the mentor review session tonight in Paris, and then this incoming week will see me working more closely with the advisors on the product roadmap and specification. I also suspect I’ll be hanging out with my cool lawyer friends again as we move towards the incorporation of FFLOK. Another busy week it seems.

Thanks again for your ongoing inputs and support, especially those highlighting which of the three birds in the logo is asymmetrical :-).

Have a great week everyone.
